LAURA PISANI IS AN EMDR THERAPIST IN CT
It’s time to uncover what’s stopping you from
moving forward.
Hey, I’m Laura
Feeling isn’t easy. In fact, it's damn near terrifying. As someone who is constantly in your head, you've created security in being analytical.
What you've realized is that always being logical isn't foolproof...the lingering knot in your stomach has seeped through the protective barrier.
You don’t have to face that alone.
I’m a chronic feeler and I encourage others to be, too.
...More technically, I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified EMDR Therapist that works with driven, ambitious survivors of trauma who are struggling with difficult relationships to stop feeling undervalued and stuck in unhelpful patterns.
I am committed to encouraging you to get in touch with difficult emotions and process your trauma in a way that feels manageable. These days, we are inundated with hot tips and self-care trends that claim to fix it all.
I don’t buy that. Humans are complicated and unique, so their approach to healing should be as well. In my work, I journey with you to uncover your stuck points and resolve them, rather than throwing 101 coping skills at you.
If you're ready to unravel that knot in your stomach and build deeper connections within yourself and with others, then you're in the right place.
HOW I WORK
I am no different from the people that I work with. Like everyone else, I'm human. I have experienced trauma and in my own healing journey I have found growth through other experiences that have shaped who I am and how I help.
I understand therapy can be uncomfortable and awkward at times. I strive to create an environment that allows you to feel more at ease when sharing about, processing, and discovering various parts of yourself. This isn't a Hollywood drama series depiction of therapy; Though I do own a plethora of cardigans, and that's one stereotype I accept openly. It's important to me to create safety within the session and stay open to any feedback and questions you may have.
I have tools that guide the work that I do such as EMDR, but the most critical factor that influences me is being human. I bring a raw authenticity to our sessions and encourage you to do the same. When working with me, people know they will be understood, listened to, and compassionately challenged. Clients who work with me feel comfortable enough to let those curse words fly, curl up on the couch under a blanket, and use dark humor to cope.
I BELIEVE…
We can stop feeling shame when we share our story with someone who can hear it with empathy and understanding.
Owning and accepting ourselves for who we are, is one of the most courageous things we can do.
In honoring the intersection of each person’s unique backgrounds and identities, and their role in one’s life story.
Our emotions heal when they are witnessed and validated without judgment.
